How do I fix my router not connecting to the Internet?

Your Wifi network is giving you trouble? This is a common problem that many people face as it could be due to a variety of reasons. It can be really frustrating when you have important work to do and the internet won’t work.

This issue could be from your internet provider’s side so, first check the Internet LED on your router to see if it displays red. If it does, then the issue is on the internet provider’s side. But if the light is blinking or solid green or white then the issue could be internal.

Follow these steps to troubleshoot this issue:

1.       First, restart your computer system and try to access the internet. Sometimes this issue can resolve itself by rebooting your system. After reboot open a browser and check if the internet is working now.
2.       If the above method did not work, then try rebooting your Router. Turn the power off and pull the router plug out, wait for a minute and plug it back in and press the power button on. If there are any issues, they usually resolve themselves during reboot.

3.       If you still can’t access the internet, make sure to check the cables connection you may lose internet connection if there are any broken or damaged cables. So, test out the cables and see if any of them are not working. You should replace any faulty cables to resolve this issue.

4.       You can also try a soft reset for troubleshooting no internet issue. A soft reset will automatically clear the caches and refresh your system. Simply open Network and internet settings on your computer. Click on status > Network reset to perform a soft reset.

5.       If you are still unable to access the internet then you may have to perform a hard reset. There is a reset button located at the back of your router. Simply press and hold it for a few seconds to perform a hard reset.  After the reset is done all the router settings would turn back to its default settings.

6.       Now you need to configure the settings of your router. Simply use the default IP Address to login to your router using default login ID and password. Then you need to first change the Default username and password of your router and save settings.

7.       Then navigate to firmware settings and check for a firmware update. It should be updated to the latest version. If it is not updated then you have to manually install it from the manufacturer’s website.
8.       After you successfully configure the router, you need to reboot the router once again.
